Jälkimmäinen samoin kuin kuvitus on peräisin paljastustensa johdosta murhatun kapteeni William Morganin teoksesta Illustrations of Masonry by One of the Fraternity, Batavia, New York, 1827. Kirjaa voi tilata osoitteesta Utah Lighthouse Ministry muutaman dollarin hintaan.
Sivulla on myös otteita Jabez Richardsonin teoksesta The Monitor of Free-Masonry, Chicago (ei päiv), joka valaisee joitakin korkeamman asteen riittejä, joita Morganin kirjassa ei kuvailla. Nämä kohdat on lainattu suoraan Sandra ja Jerald Tannerin kirjasta The Evolution of the Mormon Temple Ceremony: 1842-1990 ja merkitty asteriskilla.

Milloin Joseph Smith pääsi omakohtaisesti osalliseksi vapaamuurarien rituaaleihin?
Joseph Smithistä tuli vapaamuurari 15.3.1842 toimistossaan. History of the Church, osa 4, s. 551

History of the Church, osa 5, s. 2
